New York we are on our way!!!
Wow I can't believe this day has finally come that we are actually off to the Big Apple!!! New York City here we come :-)
It has also been a dream of mine to travel the United States East Coast in search of lighthouses and inland to view structural covered bridges... it must be all the movies I've watched and photos I've seen over the years! Dreams do really come true!! Thank you so much Dave!
We enjoyed a wonderful night at the Pullman by the airport. It was so much nicer waking up, having breakfast in the Executive Lounge and incurring a short drive to the airport, instead of having to wake up at 3.00am to leave home and drive to the airport. Can highly recommend the Pullman too! When we arrived the check-in lady awarded us the "guest of the day"!!! Plus an upgrade to our room!! Very nice indeed! Because we previously signed up to the Accor Plus membership in Fiji it gave us a free nights accommodation, so we used this too!!! Plus there's more... a complimentary drink each too.... thank you very much for the delicious Cuban Princess cocktail : Bacardi superior rum, lime, mint, sugar, fresh passionfruit, Prosecco.... and Dave enjoyed a Kosciuszko pale ale. The hotel was also showcasing the Gillie and Marc sculptures which we love, in fact Dave, I think we should purchase one for home one day!!
We experienced a very smooth check-in at Sydney International Airport too, even though it was extremely busy. Though the airport management really need to do something about signage into the airport and the bottleneck by the entrance to the terminal for foot passengers!!
Thanks to the American Express Lounge we are comfortably ensconced away from the crowds.
Another bonus... its nice to see our plane is there ready and waiting for us too!
So here's to our long haul flight to New York..... approximately 13hrs to LA then another 5hrs to New York!!! Hope they have lots of movies to watch!!... though I have got my sleeping pills which I will be taking for sure!
So, surprisingly, the 13 hours didn't seem that long at all... as soon as we boarded we got offered a drinkipoo then as soon after we took off we had dinner... roast pork and veggies, which we had pre chosen on line prior to departure... nice but it could have been hotter. Watched the Pirates of the Caribbean : Dead men don't tell tales. Jonny Depp never disappoints! Downed a sleeping pill and bang I was out within an hour. Dave managed to get some shut eye too.
Arrived at L.A. picked up our bags and went through all the security checks again!!! Waiting to collect our bags at the carrousel, they said No.3.... so everyone is waiting.... waiting.... waiting... then someone asks what's going on... oh they said they will be coming out at No.2... do you not think you should announce that to everyone!!! Go figure!! Thinking this delay would make us late for our connecting flight too, however the flight got delayed anyhow due to other connecting flights and wet weather!
I hope you enjoy our journey and adventures with us. See you on the next up date.
